Geoffrey Aguigwo alongside the Diocesan Chancellor/Secretary – Very Rev. Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu stated that Mbaka’s attack on Peter Obi’s reputation, by addressing Mr. Obi as “a stingy man” and as “a joker”, contravenes “the canon 220 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law which prohibits anyone from illegitimately harming the good name of a person.”

While condemning Fada Mbaka’s incessant political utterrances, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu stated that his utterrances do not represent the position of the Diocese and promised to take canonical actions against Fada Mbaka, in due course.
