NYCN Inaugurates Taskforce Committee against Oil Theft & Illegal Bunkering, Pipeline Vandalism and Adulteration of Petroleum Products

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, under the leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, has inaugurated a taskforce committee against oil theft and illegal Bunkering, pipeline vandalism and adulteration of Petroleum Products. This was done in Enugu, in an event organized by the National Directorate of Petroleum and Solid Minerals of NYCN.

It became expedient for the apex Youth body in the country, NYCN, to wade into the menace of oil theft and illegal bunkering, which has caused Nigeria a heavy economic sabotage. Recently, there was a nationwide circulation of adulterated petroleum products, which caused mayhem to many Nigerians and dealt a heavy blow on the economic activities in the country. So many sad events of kerosene explosion, which claimed so many innocent lives, were all sequel to adulteration. To salvage these situations, to ensure sanity in the oil sector and to boost the economy of Nigeria, NYCN constituted a National Committee to exterminate the nefarious activities in the oil sector. The Committee on fight against oil theft and illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and adulteration of petroleum products, headed by Comr. Prince Nixon Udoka Ahanonu, is saddled with the responsibility of complementing the efforts of the security agencies in the fight against nefarious activities in the oil sector.

Thus, on the 16th of October, the members of the Taskforce of that Committee, who are expected to be on constant surveillance patrol around the oil producing areas, gathering meaningful information regarding the illegal activities of the hoodlums and supplying same to the security agencies for immediate actions, were duly inaugurated.

While inaugurating them, the President of NYCN – Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, who was ably represented by the Deputy President of NYCN – Amb. Innocent Nduanya, charged the members of the Taskforce to ensure that Nigeria does not experience the act of oil theft and illegal bunkering any longer. He also charged them to be undaunted while he advised them to discharge their duties with utmost patriotism devoid of any iota of corruption.

At the event, some patriotic Nigerians were honoured with Ambassadorial awards as AMBASSADORS OF NATIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH in appreciation of their immense contributions towards the growth of the economy of Nigeria. Some of the Awardees are outstanding Entrepreneurs, Employers of labour and security personnel whose track records are unmatched. Notable among them are; Amb. Obiora Agusi, the CEO of Obi Kings Aluminium Industry Ltd, in recognition of his patriotic efforts in promoting the growth of Nigeria’s economy through various Youth empowerment projects; Hon. Tony Manfred Nzekwe, Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Enugu State, for reshaping the Youth Constituency in Enugu state towards financial Independence; and CP Ahmed Ammani fdc, the Commissioner of Police Enugu state police command, in recognition of his efforts in ensuring that his area of jurisdiction is safe for economic activities to thrive.

Other personalities present at the event include Amb. Smart Uwakwe, Vice President NYCN South East; Comr. Prince Datolu Sukubo, National Director of the Directorate of Petroleum and Solid Minerals NYCN; Comr. Temple Chika, Fmr Chairman of NYCN Enugu State Chapter and Member Advisory Board of NYCN; Comr. Sunday Udeh, Fmr Vice Chairman NYCN Enugu State and SSA on Special Duties to the President of NYCN; Comr. Prince Nixon Udoka Ahanonu, Secretary Directorate of Petroleum and Solid Minerals and the National Coordinator of the NYCN Committee on fight against oil theft and ollegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism, and adulteration of petroleum products Adulteration; Alhaji Yusuf Sarki; PrinceWill Nnamdi Eri; and some business associates, family members and well wishers of Amb. Obiora Agusi. Representatives of the security agencies also graced and witnessed the inauguration.

On his acceptance speech, Amb. Obiora Agusi thanked the leadership of NYCN for the honour and pledged his unalloyed loyalty and support to NYCN led by Amb. Sukubo Sari-Igbe Sukubo and assured his continued readiness to roll out more Youth intervention projects.
